WILT #14

Walk Off the Earth.

No that is not a directive.

It is a band.

It is a YouTube sensation.

It is What I'm Listening To.

About a month ago, my super cool friend Carrie asked me if I wanted to attend a Walk Off the Earth concert (they were actually opening for David Usher). I said sure and drove the almost 4 hours to see them.

What can I say - they are incredibly talented and creative. I dig this video - they performed it on Ellen as well. Check it out. Here's their cover of Goyte's 'Somebody that I Used to Know'. The original version by Goyte is also pretty cool so check that out too!  And since you are already checking stuff out, you might as well check out the parody of the WOTE version done by the Key of Awesome (what a cool band name).

Update

Does anyone else feel like 2012 is going by fast? I swear it's like someone stole the remote from the movie 'Click' and hit the fast forward button.

Where did January go?? I swear it was here just a minute ago. I feel like my mom looking around for her glasses...I could have sworn I left it right here beside February...

I better not blink or it will be March.

So, I thought it would be fun to go back and update you on everything I have been up to since starting this blog on October 13, 2011. I have posted a total of 68 posts (including this one), though sadly this is only my first post for the month of February. I have been a slacker. (I will repent and promise to do better in the future).

In that 3 months time I have only managed to try 8 new things. What I realized is that it is a lot harder than it looks to do something new (and interesting) every week, especially when you are a mom of 2 young kids. Perhaps a better goal would be to try doing something new at least once a month and if I manage to do better and try 2 or more new things in a month, bonus!

So update time:

I started off in October blogging about Jillian Michaels - she has an awesome 20-minute shred workout and I was doing great with it for a while but I have to confess I haven't touched one of her videos in over a month (probably closer to 2). I kinda got caught up with home renovations, plus with all the workers coming in and out of my house I didn't feel like sweating through workouts with an audience. Of course, now that the workers are no longer here, I can no longer use that as an excuse. I will start working out again tomorrow. promise.

Potty training.

The dreaded 'P' word.

I would love to tell you that Isaac who is almost 2 1/2 is completely accident free, potty-trained...but that would be lieing. He started off so well and then he simply digressed. To the point where there were days where he would have 5-6 accidents in one day. We didn't revert back to diapers though!Thank god we have LOTS of underwear and pants!  Recently, we decided to regroup and start again - this time being extra diligent (I think we started slacking too early last time). I started a new sticker system. Every time he successfully pees in the potty he gets one sticker, a poo nets him 2 stickers, and after getting a certain number of stickers he gets a 'prize'. In Isaac's case that means a new marble - my little monkey goes crazy for them! We are also using the timer again - he argues less about going when the timer goes off, plus it is a great reminder for me (especially when I'm doing other things). So far it is going not bad.

The New Stuff.

Belly dancing was the first New thing I tried and...I'm still doing it! I just started my third 6-week session. I'm really enjoying it - it is just such a sexy dance and I relish the idea of one day being really good at it (even if that never becomes the reality). My friend Deb is also still taking lessons but this session she moved up to the next class level so we are in different classes. She wants me to join her in that class once the next 6-week session starts but we'll have to see if I think I'm ready. The two of us now exclusively refer to it as Ching Ching (appropriately named by my hubby, since that is the sound our hip scarves make).

Since baking my first blueberry pie I have not baked another one (much to my husband's dismay). Mostly because I have been too busy and haven't felt like doing any baking - though I'm sure there will be future blueberry pies...I may even branch out and make cherry! ;-)

I also have not cooked any more artichokes. Again, I'm not ruling out the possibility of cooking one sometime in the future, but they are a lot of work to make and eat without some sort of an occasion to warrant it.

I have not partaken in anymore waxing or sugaring of parts of my body - neither is something I see myself doing on any regular basis. Mostly because I don't see the point in spending money on something that I can easily do myself - I've been shaving my legs for years, why stop now?  As for the sugaring thing...I may have to save that torture for special occasions.

I have not attended anymore NFL games, though I am told by my friend Deb that I haven't experienced a true football game until I'm in the stands freezing my butt off and passing beer down to someone in the middle of the row. I have however, been to see my first NHL game, which I was also fortunate enough to see from box seats (thanks to a friend's 40th birthday party being held there).  And I got to see an NBA game (which I have seen before) but this time from courtside seats right under the basket! (thank you Fallsview Casino) Definitely an experience I will never forget! Of course this does now make me somewhat of a sports ticket snob since I`m becoming accustomed to good seats.
Whether it is painting or being Betty Crocker, I have enjoyed most of the New stuff I've tried and I have no intentions of stopping!

Now of course I need to figure out what my next New thing will be...hmmm...any suggestions?
